The citizens of Taldikorgan have celebrated the 140 anniversary of the town.

Taldikorgan, October 03, 2009, Khabar - The celebrations took place at the central stadium. The governor of the region Serik Umbetov has congratulated the citizens. He said that the city and the whole country prospers thanks to independence of the republic, the unity of the people and the wise politics of the president. The town has been founded in 1869. It was just a small village in the past. In Soviet time Gavrilovka was renamed into Taldikorgan. It has begun a centre of Taldikorgan region in 1940s. The second birth of the town was in 2001 when it has gotten the status of the Almaty region centre. At the anniversary celebration day concerts, festivals of national cuisine and fashion shows were organized. People planted trees, took part in the opening of Culture Alley.
