SUCCESS IN UNITY AND DEVELOPMENT DUE TO NATIONAL POLICY: MUSA AMAN
KOTA KINABALU (Malaysia), Oct 6 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's success in fostering
unity and stability as well as bringing about development is the result of
legislating and implementing dynamic and practical policies by considering the
needs of all races in the country.
East Malaysia state of Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman said policies like the
National Economic Policy, National Development Policy, Privatisation Policy and
the Malaysia Incorporated Policy clearly reflected the proactive and pragmatic
attitude of the government.
In his speech when officiating the Malaysia Policy Seminar here Tuesday, he
said he considered the theme chosen for the seminar "Policy as the Platform for
National and People's Development" as apt as development in a country, a state
or at local government level could not be separated from national policy
His speech was read out by Minister in the Chief Minister's Department Nasir
Sakaran Dandai.
The three-day seminar attended by staff of the federal government, state
government and also local governments was to discuss policies and federal and
state enactments and is organised by Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sabah with
the state government's coooperation.
Musa said Tuesday it was found that among the most important policies in a
country was a national unity policy and for a country like Malaysia that was
made up of various races, cultures and religions that was not easy.
In that regard, the '1Malaysia' concept of Prime Minister Najib Razak was
important to realise national unity, he said.
"That concept has to be translated into practices, programmes, plans and
policies that are supportive for if not it will just remain as a slogan and
would have no true impact to benefit all," Musa stressed.
