Rupert Murdoch to visit S. Korea

Oct. 6, SEOUL (Yonhap) -- American media magnate Rupert Murdoch will make a
one-day visit to South Korea on Wednesday to meet with top officials of Samsung
Electronics Co., including Director Lee Jae-yong and Choi Gee-sung, Samsung
Electronics' digital media president, according to industry sources Tuesday.

Murdoch, chairman of News Corporation, and Samsung officials are likely to
discuss the sale of news and movie contents in Korea through video-on-demand
delivered by Samsung's broadband high-definition TVs.
Murdoch is the owner of one of the world's largest media conglomerates, which
holds the Wall Street Journal, the New York Post, The Times, Fox TV, Star TV and
the 20th Century Fox. Murdoch visited South Korea in 1998, when he met then
President-elect Kim Dae-jung to discuss investment in the Korean media industry.
Murdoch will visit the electronics company in Suwon 46 km south of Seoul and the
truce village of Panmunjom in the demilitarized zone before leaving the country.
