Development of space tourism

Kyzylorda, October 06, 2009, Khabar - Representatives of the World Tourism Organization General Assembly and entrepreneurs from 51 countries have paid a visit to the Kyzylorda region. They visited the Baikonur space launching site and the memorial complex of Turkic philosopher Korkyt-ata. 8 foreign tourists have already been sent to space from the Baikonur space facility. And many travelers come here just to watch space launches and visit the space museum.

Alexander Mezentsev, Baikonur mayor:
- We have great plans for 2010 when launching works will be initiated. There is an arrival station near a tower. A safe distance has been arranged. There were about 400 people who came to see the next launch.

Temirkhan Dosmukhanbetov, Kazakh minister of tourism and sport:
- Everybody was surprised by steps being taken on the track of space tourism development. If we construct international space centers, a great number of tourists will for sure be visiting our country.

The foreign delegation has also visited the Korkyt-ata memorial complex. A theatrical show which based on national traditions and rituals was prepared specially for the guests.

Izmet Ilmaz, vice-minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey
- The world of Korkyt-ata lets us know where we came from, to find common ancestors. I think that many of citizens of Turkey want to visit this place.

It is being planned to open the study center for tourism managers and ethnic rest zone here. The foreign tour operators have guaranteed the permanent tourist stream to the region. And the region government has promised to adjust an infrastructure and create the conditions for reception of visitors.
