Government and trade unions

Astana, October 06, 2009, khabar - A task force to be dealing in the revision of pay rise for state employees has been formed in the government as a result of the meeting featuring Prime Minister Karim Massimov and representatives of the country’s trade unions. It is hard to find a good solution to such an issue at the times of crisis, but the Road Map program proved that such solutions can be found and bring certain benefits from the crisis.

Karim Massimov, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan:
- No countries have been fulfilling such programs as the Road Map this year.

Thanks to the Road Map program, hundreds of hospitals and thousands of schools have been repaired as well as a number of housing and communal facilities. Trade unions also positively assessed the project which also provided as many as 400 thousand new jobs.

Siyazbek Mukashev, chairman, Kazakhstan Trade Unions Federation:
- The President’s anti-crisis policy and the precise actions by the government have had a positive influence on the country which is obvious.

On the outcomes of the meeting it was decided to form a task force to be headed by the minister for labor and social security.

Gulshara Abdykalikova, minister for labor and social security of RK:
- We have reached an agreement with trade unions on the creation of a task force. First of all, it will be dealing with the issues of wages reforms for the future. Secondly, we will be working on the taking of adequate measures against some acute issues.

Mereke Butina, chairman of medical workers trade union:
- I think that it was a good discussion. We were said that our problems wouldn’t be left without solution.

Raya Akhmetova, chairman, trade union of state, banks and public service employees:
- It seems that we will find a mutual understanding. Moreover, we will find the solution of this issue.
