Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan discuss cooperation

Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Massimov has met with his Kyrgyzstan colleague Vitaliy Chudinov in Bishkek. The ministers discussed the provision of uninterrupted power generation at a joint power unit during the winter. During the talks, the two prime ministers also highlighted the main tasks of solving the corresponding issues and asked some bodies in charge to prepare all the necessary paperwork.

Karim Massimov, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan:
- Today, we have reached certain agreements for the winter period operations including the possibility that Uzbekistan will leave the project. We also touched upon coal and heating oil supplies from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan and our further cooperation in general. I think today we’ve taken all the important decisions which will help us go through the winter without any problems.

The two prime ministers also discussed some issues connected with Kazakhstan’s property on the Issyk-Kul lake shore.

Vitaliy Chudinov, Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan:
- We believe that the issues of ratification of the law on transferring resort areas to Kazakhstan’s property were unreasonable. We discussed these things a long time ago. Kazakhstan agreed with the rental fee which was charged in accordance with the Kyrgyzstan law and its tax code.
