ISLAMIC WRITER WINS ISLAMIC MEDIA AWARD

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- An Islamic media practitioner who had
translated the Al-Quran interpretation, the late Yusoff Zaky Yacob, on Wednesday
won the National Islamic Media Premier Award.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Jamil Khir Baharom gave away the
award in the form of a trophy together RM10,000 in cash, a certificate and other
accompanying items.

Yusoff Zaky's eldest son, Nasir received the award on behalf of his late
father. Yusoff Zaky, who originated from Kota Baharu, capital of northeast state
of Kelantan, died in 1999 at the age of 71.

Thirty-four awards were up for grabs this year divided into six categories,
namely Radio Production Award; Television Production Award; Print Media
Publication Award; Website Award; Special Jury Award; and the National Islamic
Media Premier Award.

Radio24 Bernama won the Best Radio Islamic Talk Show Production category
while the RTM radio station, Klasik Nasional, received three awards.

Utusan Malaysia Malay daily won the best newspaper production category while

Radio Sarawak FM was the winner for the best Islamic documentary.
