OSCE representatives’ trip to South Kazakhstan
South Kazakhstan, October 08, 2009 (Khabar) - Representatives of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe have met with active members of non-governmental organizations, parties and students in Shymkent. This was the first study trip of representatives of the OSCE Center in Astana to the Southern region of the country.
The OSCE is appraising various aspects of Kazakhstani people’s lives quite highly at the moment. For example, rigorous activity of public organizations in the country is indicative of the democratic society’s development. 923 social action organizations are operating in the Southern Kazakhstan region alone. During the meeting with the public, representatives of the OSCE center in Astana, reported on the history, aims and principles of the organization’s work and answered numerous questions on both the activity of this international structure and the current international situation.
Jeannette Kloetzer, deputy head of OSCE Center in Astana:
- Kazakhstan has entered the list of OSCE Troika in practical terms. It is being formed by past, present and future chairpersons. Thus, Kazakhstan is already taking part in the leadership of the organization in defining its activity this year and will continue doing so in 2011.
