The government delays salary increase for budget workers for a half of year

Astana, October 08, 2009 (Khabar) - The workers of budget organizations will get the 25 per cent addition to the salary from the first of July 2010 instead of January.
According to experts of the Ministry of Economics and budgetary planning, terms of increase of salaries have postponed because of a possible second wave of financial crisis. Thus other social expenses will not be reduced, and since January, 1st will increase pensions to older people. The government uses the money liberated at the expense of economy for the further maintenance of social and economic stability. Experts notice that now a situation in the country is stable: inflation is on a low level, the rate of exchange is stabilized and food safety of the state is provided. If the economic situation in the country shows good growth in the near future the government does not exclude that the salary to state employees will rise much earlier, for example, in the spring of next year.

Sara Alpysbayeva, the director of the Center of early detection of economic and financial shocks:
- If to address to other countries, let’s say, Russia in 2010 in general refuses indexation of wages to state employees. We only postpone terms of increase of wages. Situation in Ukraine and Belarus is very difficult. They have addressed for the help to IMF and if the Currency Fund makes the decision on rendering assistance it rigidly lays down condition not to raise a payment. If to address to the Baltic countries it is necessary to say that there is a question not only of salary increase or delay terms of increase of the salary, there is a direct reduction of the salary to state employees, including teachers, with 160 to 140 currency numbers. In the conditions of world crisis this measure of our government was on time.
