“Cheerleaders for nonsmoking schools” campaign
Almaty, October 10, 2009 (Khabar) - Cheerleaders of Almaty have performed with anti-smoking mottos at the stage of the Pupil’s Palace. They called upon young people to live a healthy lifestyle and give up smoking, especially at schools. A lot of people are dreaming to become a cheerleader but only few people know that apart from the amazing performance, cheerleading is very difficult labor. They are to invent cadences to every performance. These cadences should not violate the code of cheerleaders. Additionally, this code forbids them drinking and smoking.
Alfiya Kalmagambetova, president of cheerleading federation, Kazakhstan:
- Every cheerleader will advise you to live a healthy lifestyle and say that smoking is not the sign of toughness.
And after the code on the health of people came into effect, smoking has become illegal.
- The tobacco smoke is very harmful for people and we want our generation to give up smoking and go in for sport instead.
- There is no time for smoking. We have to train every day. Smoking is harmful.
Cheerleaders decided to visit every Almaty school with “Say no to smoking” motto. They are to tell their peer about the hazards of smoking and call upon them creating cheerleading teams.
