BOOK ON MILITARY LEGAL PROCEEDINGS LAUNCHED
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- The first book on Malaysian military law entitled "Military Legal Proceedings in Malaysia" was launched Monday by Defence Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The 482-page book was jointly authored by a former Judge Advocate General at
the Ministry of Defence, Teo Say Eng, and the Commander of the Subang Air Force
Base, Colonel Wan Normazlan Che Jaafar.
The book deals primarily with the investigation of offences and charges,
proceedings before courts martial and reviews of convictions and sentences meted
out in summary dealings and courts martial trials.
"The book explains in detail the provisions and applications of the Armed
Forces Act 1972 and the relevant by-laws," said Phillip Karuppiah, managing
director of LexisNexis Malaysia, the publisher of the book.
"It goes without saying that the book will be an invaluable guide to
military officers and members of courts-martial.
"It will also serve as an important reference material for legal
parctitioners and students who want to familiarise themselves with military
court proceedings in Malaysia," he said at the launch of the book here.
