INDONESIA, SUDAN TO COOPERATE IN HEALTH FIELD

Jakarta, Oct 12 (ANTARA) - Indonesia and Sudan signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of health on Monday.

The signing was done by Indonesian Health Minister Siti Fadilah Supari and her Sudanese counterpart, Tabita Botros Shokai, at the health ministry building.

"The cooperation plan has actually been discussed for a long time. Their health program is not yet as advanced as ours and so they wish to learn how to handle disasters, reduce the maternity death rate and provide health personnel and supplies," Siti Fadilah said.

She said besides exchanging knowledge on health program development, provision of health personnel and disaster handling the Indonesian government would also help providing medicines and vaccines for Sudan.

"Later we will supply medicines there," she said.
