W KALIMANTAN TO PROMOTE ITS CULTURAL VALUES IN TWO COUNTRIES

Pontianak, Oct 12 (ANTARA) - The West Kalimantan provincial government will promote its local cultural values in China and Australia this month as part of its "Visit Kalbar 2010" program, a spokesman said.

"We are making all-out efforts to introduce West Kalimantan's cultural and tourism potentials to the international community," West Kalimantan Culture and Tourism Office spokesman Kamaruzzaman said here on Monday.

He said the prommtion would be done at a six-day cultural show in Nanning, China, which would open on October 16, 2009.

According to Kamaruzzaman, West Kalimantan Deputy Governor Christiandy Sanjaya would lead a team from the province to the show in China.

Kamaruzzaman said West Kalimantan would, among other things, present a collaboration dance of three ethnic groups in the province namely Chinese, Dayak, and Malay, Malay and Dayak contemporary dances, and traditional Dayak dances.

An Indonesia culture and tourism forum, especially on Kalimantan, would also be conducted in Melbourne, Australia, from October 22-26, 2009.

Kamaruzzaman said West Kalimantan Governor Cornelis would be a speaker at the event to introduce West Kalimantan's tourism and cultural potentials to the Australian public.

"At the local level, a Khatulistiwa Land Cultural Festival (FBBK) will be staged from November 11-15 this year," Kamaruzzaman said, adding that the West Kalimantan provincial administration would cooperate with tourism businessmen to make tour packages to in the the province.
