WECP annual meeting concludes
Dammam, October 12, SPA -- The 5-day annual meeting of the World
Energy Cities Partnership (WECP) concluded here last night in
Calgary, Canada.
Dammam city delegation was led by Mayor of Eastern Province Eng. Daif
Allah Aiysh Al-Oteibi who is also the current president of WECP
presidency.
During the session, Doha, Qatar was approved as new member to be the
second Arab city after Dammam
WECP is a collaboration between 16 "energy cities" around the world
including Dammam, Saudi Arabia; Aberdeen, Scotland; Calgary, Canada;
Daging, China; Halifax, Canada; Houston, USA ; Luanda, Angola,
Malabo, Equatorial Guinea; Perth, Australia; Port Harcourt, Nigeria;
San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago; St. Johns, Canada, Stavanger,
Norway; Villahermosa, Mexico and newly Approved city of Doha, Qatar
WECP is a Texas non-profit corporation and is directed by an elected
President and Vice-President, and supported by a Secretariat office,
which is based in Houston. The organization allows the member cities
to exchange petroleum industry knowledge, as well as economic and
infrastructure development strategies, which have been important to
help each city in its common task of supporting its local energy
sector.
Eng. Daif Allah Aiysh Al-Otheibi was honored as his 2-year tenure
has been over.
Lisa Scaffidi, Lord Mayor of Perth, Western Australia was elected as
the new WECP president and Mayor Kenneth Ferguson of San Fernando,
Trinidad and Tobago as vice president.
