AN EFFICIENT M'SIAN JUDICIARY DUE TO IMPROVED DELIVERY SYSTEM

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 14 (Bernama) -- The newly improved delivery system of the
Malaysian judiciary has been proven to be efficient as a senior lawyer revealed
that he had completed the trial of eight cases in four months as compared to
five years just to complete one trial previously.

Chief Justice Zaki Azmi made this disclosure in his speech Wednesday at the
swearing-in ceremony of three Court of Appeal judges who were elevated to the
Federal Court, three High Court judges elevated to the Court of Appeal and six
judicial commissioners elevated to High Court judges.

Zaki said he received a hand-written letter from the lawyer whose identity
he declined to disclose, congratulating the judiciary on its achievement in
improving its delivery system.

Zaki said, in the letter, the lawyer had said he managed to complete eight
trial cases, closed his file and collected his fees when previously it would
take five years to complete just one trial.

"He (the lawyer) also said that the judiciary was now blessed with the
no-nonsense attitude of the judges who sacrifice their lunch hour, tea-break and
even work until 7pm without complaining at all," Zaki said.

A round of applause was then extended by those attending the ceremony when
Zaki congratulated the staff and judicial officers who contributed to the
judiciary's success in improving its delivery system.
