Prominent ecological project is finished
Ust-Kamenogorsk, October 14, 2009 (Khabar) - An important ecological project has been realized in Ziryanovsk town in the Eastern Kazakhstan. More than 50 years the local mountain-concentrating factory polluted river Buhtarma waters. New sluice is constructed by closed cycle principle and completely excludes hit of a technical waste in environment.
This factory is one of the largest in the CIS. Volumes of processing of poly-metallic ores impress till now. However a miracle of engineering thought of the end of 1950th years of the last century has been supplied only with the elementary system of clearing. The enterprise took away millions cubic meter of water from Buhtarma, used it in the technical purposes and then after usual physical upholding again dumped in the river.
Cvetlana Andriyanova, ecologist of Ziryanovsk ore mining and processing enterprise:
- The situation has sharply changed to better with the new sluice installation. The water has become 77 per cent cleaner on ions of heavy metals. This is the data of ecological department. The amount of arsenic decreased on 43 per cent, and sulfates –more than 90 per cent.
20 million dollars were invested to the new sluice. In ecological memorandum between “Kazcink” and regional government the realization of this project took the first place. Despite of difficult economic situation more than 10 billion tenge are allocated to nature reserve measures this year.
Boris Kolpakov, chief ecologist, “Kazcink”:
- We have signed ecological cooperation memorandum with regional administration. All the events stated in it are done. We have good work relationship with executive and representative organs. And I think that such cooperation in ecological problems solution will help to speed up the process of tecnogenic load of company.
Buhtarma is the biggest water artery of Ziryanovsk area. Its length is more than 300 kilometers. It goes to Buhtarma water reserve which becomes popular tourist zone. The ecological situation should be normal in order to attract people.
Alexander Zenkov, ecology inspector of Ziryanovsk area:
- Surface flow is absolutely excluded. A diffusive pollution would be removed soon, and the river will be clean. It has the great importance for the cleanness of whole Buhtarma water basin.
The water turn completely meets the nature protection requirements. It clears not only superficial but also ground waters. Leak and hit of a technogenic waste in Buhtarma is completely excluded now. According to ecologists, in the river right after project realizations the livestock of grayling and umber has considerably increased. Such fish can live only in crystal-clear water.
