Struggle against drug addiction and drug business
Uralsk, October 15, 2009 (Khabar) - Interactive conference on fight against drug addiction and drug business went off in Uralsk. More than three thousand state and regional enterprises officials took part in discussion.
Regional program on struggle against drugs is realized in Western Kazakhstan now. More than 40 million tenge was allocated to it from regional budget. The half of money has already been used. This program was actively supported by non-governmental organizations and the means of mass media. But the statistics is not yet good: about 1500 citizens of region are registered on the books of narcology experts. Almost a hundred of them are under age of 18. This year in Western Kazakhstan 233 crimes related to drug selling were registered. 126 crime investigations started, 43 kilograms of drugs were confiscated. Totally in republic 24 tons of different potion and 700 kilograms of heroine were confiscated during 9 months of the current year.
Kairat Mami, the General Prosecutor, RK:
- As a whole the sharpness of a discussed problem causes necessity of the thought over realization of the antinarcotics policy defined by the state, workings out and introductions of forms and methods of counteraction of drug addiction and to drug business. Working on this question should be conducted systematically and consecutively at close interaction of all interested state organs and with coordination from the Office of Public Prosecutor.
