AIRASIA ANNOUNCES 3 NEW INDIA ROUTES
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 (Bernama) -- Low-cost carrier AirAsia will begin its
daily direct flights to Kolkata, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) in
India next month.
The airline is offering from as low as RM129 all-in fares one way for the
booking period from Oct 15 to 20, 2009.
This is for the travel period from Nov 12, 2009, to July 31, 2010, for
Kochi, from Nov 16, 2009, to July 31, 2010, for Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum)
and from Nov 19, 2009, to July 31, 2010, for Kolkata.
"While most airlines are cutting back during these tough economic times,
AirAsia is aggressively expanding its India route network as we believe there is
robust demand in low fare travel," said its regional head of commercial,
Kathleen Tan, in a statement Thursday.
"We believe our low fares and outstanding innovative services, will
definitely open up new markets, stimulate new travel demand and enable more
people to fly with us, thus promoting tourism which is beneficial for the
economies of both countries," she said.
Promotional seats are limited and available on first-come, first-served
basis and made available online via www.airasia.com and mobile.airasia.com.
Kolkata is located in the east Indian state of West Bengal while Kochi and
Thiruvananthapuram are both located in the south Indian state of Kerala.
AirAsia launched its first route to Trichy, India, which is situated in the
south Indian state of Tamil Nadu on Dec 1, 2008.
The launch of the first frequency to the city recorded an average load
factor of 85 per cent, it said.
To date, AirAsia has carried over 100,000 passengers to and from Trichy.
