Saudi Official: King Abdullah’s ‘Vision’ Influences Region
Washington, October 17, SPA -- The Advisor at the Royal Court of
Saudi Arabia Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Saeed on Friday commended the vision
of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz
Al Saud on motivating progress within the Kingdom and the region
based on the development of education, economic stability, dialogue
and peace.
Al-Saeed said that the list of issues requiring our mutual attention
grows, and the Arab world must focus on its objectives.
“The vision of King Abdullah on bridging the gap (division) in our
world has been greatly heard and seen around the world,” Al-Saeed
said on the second and last day of the 18th annual National Council
for U.S.-Arab Relations conference.
He noted that King Abdullah has been a strong advocate of promoting
higher education, adding that the promotion of education has
transferred Saudi Arabia from where it was in the past to where he
wants it to be in the present.
Al-Saeed also touted Saudi Arabia’s economic progress, as shown in
its development of six economic cities, as well as its participation
in G20.
He also said that King Abdullah has pushed for motivating free and
open discussion on important issues, indicating that debate has
revolutionized the region.
Dialogue has become a way of life in Saudi Arabia and the region,
Al-Saeed said and pointed to the King’s Dialogue among followers of
religions and cultures.
Tied to dialogue, was also Saudi Arabia’s 2002 submission of the Arab
peace plan, which Al-Saeed said is the first peace plan to be agreed
upon in the region. The promotion of peace is of particular
importance because great resources have been lost on wars, he said.
