HUNDREDS WELCOME HASAN TIRO IN ACEH
Banda Aceh, INDONESIA, Oct 17 (ANTARA) - Hundreds of people welcomed former Free Aceh Movement (GAM) top-leader Hasan Tiro on his arrival in Banda Aceh on Saturday.
Tiro, flanked by former GAM figures such as Malik Mahmud and Zaini Abdullah, arrived at a house on Jalan Pemancar in the subdistrict of Jaya Baru, used temporarily for a meeting hall, here at 3.30m.
Hundreds of people had been gathering at the house since morning. Special passes had been issued by the committee for entering the area including for newsmen.
Hasan Tiro arrived in a white Mazda, driven by Muzakir Manaf, who picked him up at the Sultan Iskandar Muda airport. He flew in aboard a Firefly plane from Kuala Lumpur.
The wife of the late former GAM leader Usman Lampoh Awe, put a garland over Tiro's head to welcome as a hero.
Hasan Tiro is now a Swedish national.***
