Infantile cerebral palsy treatment

Kyzylorda, October 17, 2009 (Khabar) - There are 15 thousand children suffering from infantile cerebral palsy living in Kazakhstan. The country has some rehabilitation centers established to help such children adapt to normal life. Doctor Saken Temirkulov has been helping paralyzed children get better for 10 years. He has developed his own method of treatment for such patients as well as some gym apparatus which, according to patients and their parents, work miracles.

Isaac Mustopulo, patient from Taraz:
- I learnt to walk on crutches here. Now, my mother doesn’t have to support me as I can walk myself. I want to go to school. Now I’m studying with a teacher at home but I want to go to school to be with other children.

Dentist Saken Temirkulov has been working in this sphere since his son was diagnosed with infantile cerebral palsy. However, he lost his battle against the disease. Then, he took the decision to help other children suffering from this syndrome. In memory of his son, he developed a new method of treatment for infantile cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy. Previously, he used to receive patients at home. Later on, sponsors gave him a building where 15 patients live and receive treatment. Every step taken here is big event.

Leila Zhirenshina, mother of patient from Belarus:
- Here, Saken said he would be able to walk himself after 3 courses. I can see him walking on crutches well. All our family was happy to discover this. We will go home and show our family.

Saken Temirkulov, doctor:
- Our treatment is based on reflexes. In medicine, they differentiate several types of brain signals. Without those signals its not possible to move. Thanks to these treatment methods, it is possible to treat infantile cerebral palsy as well as spine injuries.

All this gym apparatus was designed by Saken Temirkulov himself. According to him, it is vital to choose a proper course of treatment for the children and maintain it through to its conclusion. In future, Saken dreams of starting a specialized clinic which will provide all the right conditions for the treatment of such patients.
