WEF SUMMIT TO ADDRESS KEY GLOBAL CHALLENGES
DUBAI, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- Over 700 leaders from academia, business, government and civil society from more than 90 countries will gather in Dubai for the World Economic Forum's (WEF) Summit on the Global Agenda from Nov 20 to 22.
WEF founder and executive chairman Professor Klaus Schwab said the
summit, being hosted by Dubai for the second consecutive year, would
complement the efforts undertaken by the G20 and other international
organisations to address the global economic crisis.
"But this meeting will go beyond the immediate situation and provide
a long-term strategic approach to shape our global future.
"Bringing together the best minds and foremost experts, this meeting
will be the starting point for global efforts to redesign our international
system according to the needs of the 21st century," he said in a statement.
The summit will feature 76 Global Agenda Councils, each bringing
together the finest minds to propose solutions to the key issues and help
shape a post-crisis world.
The Dubai deliberations and the councils' recommendations to improve
global cooperation will serve as the framework for organising sessions at
the 40th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters in January
2010, the statement added.
