GERMAN COMPANIES SEEK PARTNERSHIP WITH W JAVA COUNTERPARTS

Bandung, W Java, Oct 21 (ANTARA) - A group of German businessmen met with West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan on Wednesday to get inputs on the possibility of partnership with local counterparts.

The German businessmen engaged among others in textile, energy, waste treatment and investment sectors wanted to establish close economic cooperation with local partners amidst the global competition.

Heryawan said the West Java administration always tried to create a secure and conducive climate to allow as many foreign investment inflows as possible.

"As a most populous province, West Java has special economic potentials, particularly in the development of environment-friendly energy sector and the management of waste to generate economic values under a mutually beneficial scheme," he said.

The governor went on to say the financial crisis that engulfed the United States in recent years had caused West Java's textile exports to fall.

To avoid a further shortfall in its textile exports, the province had begun to expand its textile markets in Middle East and Africa, he said.

"West Java's textile exports to Africa and the Middle East have not been developed significantly. We still have a chance to expand our markets in the regions despite tough competition from other countries such as India, South Korea and China," he said.

Following the meeting with Governor Heryawan, the German businessmen who represented Schenker, Wilo, Wagner Testilmaschinen, Goller Company, Tietze GMBH and FA Schurig
later held a business meeting with local businessmen at Sheraton Hotel to look into the possibility of cooperation. ***2***
