Russian, Tajik Pres call for joint efforts to regulate labor

MOSCOW, October 22 (Itar-Tass) - Presidents Dmitry Medvedev of Russia
and Emomali Rakhmon of Tajikistan speak in favor of cooperation in the
regulating of labor migration, suggests a joint statement that the two
Presidents signed Thursday.
"The two sides spoke in favor of further measures to deepen
cooperation in the issues pertaining to labor migration," the document
said.
More specifically, it says the provision means "protection of
Tajikistani labor migrants working in Russia and the Russian labor
migrants working in Tajikistan, as well as development of migration
programs an their practical implementation."
The sides supported "the studies of the Russian language in Tajikistan
and of the Tajik language in Russia and the training of teachers of both
languages at educational institutions."
Medvedev and Rakhmon issued an instruction to the government agencies
of their countries "to continue efforts towards opening an affiliation of
the Moscow Energy Institute and Moscow State Institute of Steel and Alloys
in Tajikistan."
