Dabyl 2009 tactical exercises
Taraz, October 22, 2009 (Khabar) - The Dabyl 2009 tactical exercises have come to an end in Taraz. The main aim of the training held at Auliye-Ata International Airport was to improve the anti-terrorist measures on aircraft. The event involved over 600 people including National Security Committee officers, police, emergency services, fire fighters, medical staff, and air traffic controllers. The exercises were divided into two phases. The first part stipulated that air fighters force the hijacked plane to land. As part of the second phase, all participants in the event took part in a joint operation to free the captives who were held in the hijacked aircraft.
Adil Shayakhmetov, first deputy chairman, Kazakhstan National Security Committee:
- Freeing the captives from the hijacked plane is believed to be the hardest part in such a situation. Now terrorists are known to capture planes by blowing up facilities to make people panic. Finally, they want to destabilize the situation. Our main task is to prevent such situations from happening at all.
