Foreign students arrested for selling drugs
SEOUL, Oct. 23 (Yonhap) -- Police said Friday they arrested three foreigners and
booked 18 others, mostly teenagers, on charges of either selling or using illegal
narcotics.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency said the three foreigners, including an
18-year-old American, allegedly smuggled in cocaine, methamphetamine and hashish
from foreign countries last July, before selling them to foreign and Korean
residents and students in Seoul.
They also booked three other foreign students for being involved in drug
transactions, while 15 others were nabbed for using narcotics in groups from May
up to recently, police said.
Among those charged, aged between 16 and 20, were students attending an
international high school or language school at a Seoul university, according to
the police.
"As the narcotics users have had experiences of taking drugs overseas, they
didn't seem to feel any sense of guilt for using drugs in Korea," a police
officer said.
