NEW MINISTERS TO ENJOY SALARY RAISE
Jakarta, Oct 25 (ANTARA) - Chief Economic Minister Hatta Radjasa said the government was considering raising the salaries of the newly appointed ministers.
"Their salaries are arranged in a government regulation. I did not say there salaries need to be raised, but it is being considered," the minister said after seeing off a fun walk from his office here on Sunday.
He said that the increase and arrangement of ministers' salaries are different from the remuneration system which needs a clear performance parameter. Arrangement of salaries constituted a message of a government regulation.
"Unlike the remuneration system which was formulated based on the results of a bureaucracy reform in each of the ministries and could be disbursed based on performance," the minister said.
On Friday, Minister/State Secretary Sudi Silalahi said the plan on the salary raise had nothing to do with the formation of the new cabinet.
"The salaries of the president, vice president, as well as of the ministers have not yet been raised so far. The plan to raise them now is based on a previous regulation. So, the plan on the salary raise had been planned for some time," he said.
