Crafts exhibition
Astana, October 26, 2009 (Khabar) - The wealth of Central Asian culture was shown at the crafts exhibition within the 15th session of Assembly of People of Kazakhstan. Ancient traditions of the East were presented in the exposition. People could see famous goods of Asian masters: Uzbek silk, Kazakh jewelry, precious stones from Tajikistan and Kyrgyz crockery. .
Roza Zhusupova, president of Association of Organizations supporting crafts:
- “Hand-made” nowadays is valued all over the world. Evertyhing that made by human’s hands holds the warmth of its creator’s hands, heart desire.
Famous Uzbek master Raikhan Kurymbayeva who is Kazakh by nationality started to make her patch-work quilt 6 years ago.
Raikhan Kurymbayeva:
- This tradition exists not only among Kazakh nation. Women of every nation always treated textile very carefully. Every piece was gathered and then all the family sewed patch-work quilts, pillow-cases, counterpanes.
The art of knitting kerchief in the family of Nadjiya Ismailova goes from one generation to another. Made from natural goat fluff it is not worse than famous Orenburg kerchief. Aigul Zhanserikova from Almaty has brought modern traditions to the craft of felt drying. Her hand made production is highly demanded abroad, especially in Europe.
Aigul Zhanserikova:
- Kazakh nomads had a great but forgotten nowadays tradition to dry felt. They used it in their houses, inhabitations, covering them. The technology of felt drying let us reborn or traditional felt with national ornaments and also produce goods with modern design.
Kadyrov family’s mail craft is wood engraving. Three brothers make panels, jugs, dishes, and each work is a real masterpiece.
Bolat Kadyrov:
- We live in the area of white birches. We use that was given us by the nature.
Each exhibit is the example of generations’ succession, reflection of Eastern traditions and one of the sides of bright culture in the region where friendship and peace reign.
