“Yelimai” film shooting
Almaty, October 27, 2009 (Khabar) - Apple orchards in the Talgar district near Almaty are being used as the set for the “Yelimai” film. The new work by the famous director Amanzhol Aituarov represents a story about three generations of Kazakh people who made a valuable contribution to the development of the country.
Amanzhol Aituarov, director:
- We would like to tell a story about the destiny of the entire generation of members of the intelligentsia of Kazakhstan from the main hero’s perspective. They came to study in Almaty and other cities in the 50s and built the foundations for Kazakh science in the 70s and 80s.
According to Amanzhol, this theme has been unfairly forgotten in native cinematography. Yerzhan Zharylkasymuly, an actor of the Gabit Musrepov theatre plays the main part. He is well-known to viewers thanks to the film called “Locust”. He laughed at the fact that he was a bridegroom in the film while in reality he already has 5 children.

- That was a different time. This is my first work in such a historical film. My parents told me that people were different at that time.
Aidos Sagat is composing the music for the movie. This is the second collaboration between the composer and director. The premier of “Yelimai” will be held as early as next spring.
