That Luang fair opens
(KPL) The 2009 That Luang Fair was officially opened on 28 October in the presence of Vice President, Mr. Bounnhnang Vorachit, Deputy Standing Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad, Vientiane Mayor Sombath Yeliher, ministers, deputy ministers and a number of invited guests.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Somvandy Nathavong, Vice Mayor of Vientiane highlighted the aims and objectives of the festival which is to preserve and to promote the traditional culture of Laos.
There are 591 institutions and companies taking part in this year’s fair including 5 units from agriculture and forestry sectors, 132 units from industry-handicrafts, 51 representing export-import companies and 6 international organization units. The fairs will run till 2 November.
