MALAYSIA: TRAINEE PILOT KILLED IN LIGHT AIRCRAFT CRASH
RAWANG (Malaysia), Oct 30 (Bernama) -- An Eagle light aircraft of the Royal Selangor Flying Club crashed near the Beringin Golf Club in Lembah Beringin near here Thursday, killing the trainee pilot who was flying solo from Ipoh to Subang.
Lembah Beringin is a township in Hulu Selangor district in the northern part
of Selangor, Malaysia. It is accessible via an interchange EXIT 120 of the
North-South Expressway, between Bukit Tagar and Tanjung Malim.
The pilot, Mohd Ehsan Sayyid Abu Tahir, 22, was hurled 30 metres away from
the aircraft on impact and suffered injuries to the head and left leg, said Hulu
Selangor police chief Supt Norel Azmi Affandi Yahya.
His body was found at 8.20pm by the police air unit which located the
crashed aircraft after radar failed to detect it at about 4pm, he told reporters
at the scene Thursday night.
Norel Azmi said the windscreen of the aircraft had shattered but there was
no other serious damage to the plane.
He said Mohd Ehsan, who was clad in a T-shirt and a pair of jeans, had
apparently circled the area to find a place to land. His body was sent to the
Kuala Kubu Baharu Hospital.
Norel Azmi said the Department of Civil Aviation would investigate the cause
of the accident.
Mohd Ehsan, who was from Taman Nirwana Ampang, was on his final solo
training flight before he was to sit for an examination to get his pilot's
licence, he said.
A mechanic at the Beringin Golf Club, Suhaimi Abdul Aziz, 29, said he
spotted the aircraft circling the area for 50 minutes before it crashed.
