SUGARCANE SELLER CHARGED WITH MURDERING INDONESIAN MAID

KLANG (Malaysia), Oct 30 (Bernama) -- A sugarcane juice seller was charged
in the Magistrate's Court here Friday with the murder of Indonesian maid Muntik.


A.Murugan, 35, was charged with murdering Muntik, 36, at his house at No:
11, Jalan Datuk Yusof Shahbudin 6, Taman Sentosa, between Oct 18 and 20.

No plea was recorded. He was not represented.

Deputy public prosecutor Manoj Kurup applied to the court to transfer the
case to the Shah Alam High Court on Tuesday on ground that it was a public
interest case.

Magistrate Afifah Mamat@Yusof allowed the application and fixed Tuesday for
mention in the Shah Alam High Court.

Muntik, of Surabaya, died at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital here at 10am
on Oct 26 after failing to respond to treatment.
