Japanese government will provide non-refundable aid
Hanoi (VNA) – The Japanese government will provide non-refundable aid worth 360
million JPY (4 million USD) to help Vietnam realise its national project on food
security for disadvantaged farmers, the Japanese embassy said in a press release on
October 29.
An exchange of notes confirming this were signed in Hanoi on Oct. 29 by the Japanese
Ambassador to Vietnam Mitsuo Sakaba and Vietnam’s Finance Minister Vu Van Ninh.
Under the notes, the Japanese government will supply fertilisers to Vietnam.
Proceeds from the sale of the fertiliser will then be used to fund infrastructure
construction targeting poor farmers.
The Ambassador said at the ceremony that he hoped Japan’s assistance together with
Vietnam’s efforts, will help gradually improve the lives of farmers in rural areas
and Vietnam will be able to keep contributing food supplies to the rest of the
world.
Japan has supported the Vietnamese government in agriculture and rural development
through loans, technical cooperation and non-refundable aid.-Enditem
