60th anniversary of the largest nuclear enterprise
Ust Kamenogorsk, October 31, 2009 (Khabar) - Ulbinskiy metallurgical factory is 60 years old. It was a top secret enterprise in Soviet period that worked on defense manufacture. Today the factory is a part of “Kazatomprom” corporation. The factory history has begun in far 1949. By order of Stalin in territory of Kazakhstan one of the most coded enterprises of Soviet Union has been created. Defense demanded the new weapon, and received it. Behind it there was a huge work of many thousands collective. They never were afraid to experiment. A success secret are new ideas, technologies, the equipment and own scientific shots.
Boris Kuznetsov, the deputy director of Novosibirsk factory of chemical concentrates:
- The most important thing that the collective of Ulbinskiy factory became a smithy of shots which work today not only in Kazakhstan, but also in Russia, heading one of the most advanced enterprises of nuclear branch.
Tahir Kondybaev, employee of Ulbinskiy factory:
- I work here since 1965. It is serious enough term, but it is still interesting to me because all technologies and all techniques here are always new and interesting.
The factory specializes on production from uranium, beryllium and tantalum. In spite of the fact that because of world crisis orders for fuel were reduced to 40 % for nuclear stations, this direction still one of the most perspective. Local scientists work over warmth giving elements for reactors of average and low power. These units are very demanded. Especially they are required for fast developing economy which do not have not enough traditional energy sources.
Vladimir Shkolnik, the president of “Kazatomprom”:
- It means that capacity of 1 million kilowatt is possible to supply 20 reactors with fuel. The project has already started to be carried out. Now there is a certification of fuel tablets of the French design. And we hope that we will let out assemblages for reactors of this type for South East Asia.
Ulbinskiy factory is the leader of innovative development in the east of the country. The staff works with local high schools, techno parks, project institutes. Metallurgists do not only share the wide experience with colleagues, but also help to embody interesting projects in a life. Now the first domestic compressor which will be applied on the Kazakhstan thermal pumps is tested at the enterprise.
