Rome, October 31, 2009 (Khabar) - Rome has witnessed the fifth meeting of a Kazakhstan-Italy intergovernmental working group for industrial and economic cooperation and exchange. Kazakhstani delegation discussed a wide range of questions with representatives of the Italian government and business circles: from cooperation in the sphere of power, agriculture, public health services, the finance and insurance, to projects of development of an infrastructure and transport, small and average business.
Timur Suleimenov, deputy Minister of Economy and Budget Planning:
- I was glad to see such a large number of Italian businessmen who are interested in investments into Kazakhstan and partnership with Kazakhstan’s companies. The intergovernmental working group is aimed at establishing such relations.
The deputy Minister of Economic Development of Italy Adolfo Urso said that Kazakhstan and Italy have strong partnership relations. The sales volume of the two countries has already exceeded three million euros and investment volumes for the last five years have exhibited constant growth.
Co-chairmen of the working team, Timur Suleimenov and the deputy Minister of Economic Development of Italy Adolfo Urso ratified a protocol, which includes prospective directions of joint work for the near future. The fifth meeting of the Kazakhstan-Italy intergovernmental working group happened on the threshold of the official visit of Nursultan Nazarbayev to Italy. It is assumed that the summit talks will result in the ratification of a number of agreements, directed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries in different areas.
Adolfo Urso, deputy Minister of Economic Development of Italy:
- We consider that the moment has come to expand our partnership at level of the small and average enterprises on such areas as agriculture, light industry, manufacture of fabrics and clothes, and also machine-tool construction and metallurgy.
Adolfo Urso noted that Italy is interested in making a contribution towards diversifying the economy of Kazakhstan, which will become a power, strategic and industrial centre, linking Europe and Asia.
