Committee of National Security: 9 months’ work results
Astana, November 2, 2009 (Khabar) - Two channels of jewelry contraband from Thailand and Turkey were stopped in Almaty airport. Officers of the criminal investigation department have confiscated about 8 thousand golden and more than 10 thousand of silver ware with total weight of 115 kilograms. They were delivered by the Istanbul – Almaty flight. The same day one more channel of contraband is neutralized. Arrested persons tried to import about 5 thousand silver products with more than 35 kg weight from Bangkok. Smugglers are threatened with term from three till seven years. As a whole gold and silver for the sum more than 60 million tenge is withdrawn from illegal circulation.

- In the specified facts of illegal activity are involved a group of persons from citizens of Republic Kazakhstan and Republic Kyrgyzstan, and also the head of change of a customs post of department of the customs control on Almaty, who using the official position for material compensation assisted the specified persons in illegal moving of the goods through customs border of Kazakhstan.
Kenzhebulat Beknazarov, Committee of National Security chairman’ of press-secretary:
- Since the beginning of the year we have started 40 criminal cases against custom office employees.
Committee representatives have also commented on other cases, for instance the sum that was returned to the state budget on BTA case.

- About the Turan Alem bank: 156 billion of loss has been prevented and 26 billion will be returned.
For last three years, - it has been noted today, - Committee has exposed several dozens agents of foreign special services.
Besides, Kenzhebulat Beknazarov has informed that for last three and a half year country counterespionage has fixed 43 attempts of recruitment of our citizens. Summing up a meeting Kenzhebulat Beknazarov has told: this year employees of Committee of national safety have withdrawn over three tons of drugs, have spent more than 20 international operations and have stopped activity of 49 international drug channels and 57 drug groupings.

- The committee in the name of our head has initiated the law, which would allow to destroy the withdrawn drugs in a considerable quantity that they were destroyed in due time upon withdrawal, were left for investigatory actions to avoid a secondary turn.
Last year more than 20 officials of law enforcement organs participated in the operations of secondary turn.
