Agency on natural monopolies regulation plans to start differentiated water tariffs

Astana, November 2, 2009 (Khabar) - The head of the Agency on natural monopolies regulation Nurlan Aldabengerov has talked about anti-crisis and energy saving measures taken in Kazakhstan. Reduction of administrative expenses, increase in number of the monopolists working under intermediate term tariffs are basic anti-recessionary measures of agency. Nurlan Aldabergenov has noticed that in several regions day and night tariffs for the electric power are already applied. This measure in has helped to save 283 million tenge Almaty and Astana. Till the end of the year the agency plans to enter the differentiated payment for the electric power across all Kazakhstan.

- The above the consumption size, the more discount for those consumers which work in an economy effort, is more percent who accordingly does not save the electric power.

Now members of parliament consider the bill of introduction of the differentiated tariffs for water supply. If the law is accepted, new tariffs will start to operate since January, 1st, 2010.
