Meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council of Kazakhstan

Astana, November 04, 2009 (Khabar) - Strengthening of the international image of Kazakhstan's justice, observing of principles of judicial ethics, coverage of the courts in mass media. These issues have been discussed at the meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council. One of the main tasks, which has been set before the judges by Onalsyn Zhumabekov is expansion of the publicity. All trials should be available for mass media and citizens who wish to attend them, said chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council. In recent years the number of violations of the principles of transparency has decreased by half. Electronic justice is implemented and electronic distribution of cases is carried out and processes are recorded. Particular attention should be paid to crime prevention in the criminal and civil proceedings, the anti-corruption advocacy, training of judges, participants of the meeting. The very first step is to improve the image of judges and the judicial system as a whole, said Onalsyn Zhumabekov.

Onalsyn Zhumabekov, chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council of Kazakhstan:
- The image depends much on the behavior of judges, from their compliance with the principles of judicial ethics. We focus our attention on the education of young personnel, on the selection of worthy candidates for judges and on the interns. It turns out that we should work with judges who have much work experience.
