INDIA OPENS CULTURAL CENTRE IN MALAYSIA
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 (Bernama) -- In keeping with the high priority which New
Delhi attaches to its bilateral relations with Kuala Lumpur, a full-fledged
Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) was opened here Wednesday.
Deputy Foreign Minister Senator A. Kohilan Pillai officiated the opening
ceremony.
In a press statement, Indian High Commissioner to Malaysia Ashok K. Kantha
said the centre would give India's cultural presence in Malaysia, a major fillip
and constitute an important dimension of the friendly partnership between the
countries.
The ICC -- the Cultural Wing of the Indian High Commission here -- is
located in downtown Kuala Lumpur and houses a multi-purpose hall, well-stocked
library, tourism kiosk and exhibition gallery, among others.
While qualified teachers from India offer classes in Kathak dance, carnatic
music, yoga and Hindi, the ICC invites artistes, academics, writers and
performers to use its premises to showcase their talents.
