Result of Lao Dancing competition
(KPL) Dancing groups from schools, tertiary institutions and organisations took part in the Five Traditional Basic Lao Dancing Style Competition, held at the Lao Youth’s Union, on Monday.
The competition was taken part in by 13 couples from Vientiane Secondary School, Poly-technique College, Ministry of Public Security, Faculty of Letters, and Laws and Political Science of National University of Laos and Propaganda Committee of the Party Central Committee.
As a result, the pair of Mr. Phoulanay Latthanavong and Miss. Aphavanh Kindavong, from the Vientiane Secondary School won the competition with an award of one million kip in cash. The first and second runners-up also from the Vientiane Secondary School were awarded with 600,000 and 400,000 kip, respectively. While other pairs received congratulatory prizes.
The competition aimed at promoting and preserving fine Lao traditional dancing and also encouraging youngsters to succeed the Lao traditional dancing.
Similar competition will be held every month end, which started in August this year and will run till May 2010.
The Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union (LPRYU) plans to organise a music contest to celebrate its upcoming 55th anniversary which falls on 14 May 2010.
