Rescuing of swans

Petropavlovsk, November 05, 2009 (Khabar) - Trapped swans rescued in Petropavlovsk. Swans that became trapped in ice near the North Kazakhstan city of Petropavlovsk have been finally rescued. The rescue operation was launched once the lake ice had grown thicker. Using fishing nets, local foresters and hunters helped the rescuers catch the swans one by one. Now, the rescued birds are in the Petropavlovsk botanic garden which is known for giving shelter to swans. 5 years ago, 3 injured nestlings were taken there by foresters. Now, there are 11 more of them.

Galym Temirbekov, director, Kyzylzhar greenhouse:
- We were happy to meet them. We placed them in warm cages and we’re feeding them with proper food. They feel good in such warm conditions.
