EXHIBITION “CENTRAL ASIAN IKATS” FROM RAU COLLECTION OPENS IN BAKU
Baku, November 6 (AzerTAc). The exhibition “Central Asian Ikats” from the Rau Collection presented by Victoria and Albert Museum opend in Baku, on November 5. The event was organized by Culture and Tourism Ministry and Azerbaijan State Art Museum named after R. Mustafayev.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev said that this is the first exhibition organized in the second building of the Art Museum after its reconstruction. He also noted that 58 kinds of clothes and veils of the Central Asia were demonstrated at the exhibition organized in the frame of ceremonies “Baku-the capital of Islamic culture-2009”.
Senior curator of Victoria and Albert Museum’s Central Asian department Tim Stanley and Director of the Art Museum Israfil Israfilov spoke of the historical importance of the event.
The exhibition will last until March 3, 2010.
