IMPROVE SERVICE OR RISK CRITICISM ON INTERNET, GOV'T SERVANTS TOLD

KOTA KINABALU (Malaysia), Nov 9 (Bernama) -- Government servants are
required to improve their services to the people or risk being criticised on the
Internet, East Malaysia state of Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman said Monday.

Recalling Prime Minister Najib Razak's message during the premier's visit to
Sabah recently that business was no longer as usual, Musa said the people,
especially the younger generation, were becoming more educated which meant the
their expectations of the government's performance were high.

"Everybody now has access to the Internet. They even have their own website,
their own blog, their own Facebook. Do not fool around with the people.

"Whatever wrong you do, even the smallest mistake, will be aired on the
Internet. It is quick and word spreads fast.

"It is only a matter of time for actions to be taken for your dishonesty to
the people," he said when opening the 18th Sabah District Officers' Conference
here.

Musa said there was still a lot of work for the government to do in
improving the lives of the people, especially those in the rural areas.

Therefore, he wanted the district officers, as frontliners to the
government, to counter problems in the area quickly and implement development
projects efficiently.

"We cannot afford to waste time. Whatever projects that have already been
planned in the Ninth Malaysia Plan, please get them done quickly before we move
to the 10th Malaysia Plan.

"If you have any problems, immediately let the State Government Secretary
(Sukarti Wakiman) know about it so that he can find a way for you to get your
work done. Or let me know," he said.

Musa said the federal government was committed to helping the people in
Sabah and was willing to give more allocations if what was given before was not
enough.
