INDONESIA ACTS ON MISTREATMENT OF WORKERS IN MIDDLE EAST

DUBAI, Nov 9 (Bernama) -- Indonesia is likely to bring back in the coming
months at least 5,000 of its workers said to have suffered abuse in Saudi
Arabia, according to a report.

An official at the Indonesian consulate in Jeddah, Didi Wahyudi, told
Maktoob News that the exact number of people involved was still being worked
out.

Saudi Arabia is home to some 600,000 Indonesians, the majority of whom work
as maids, labourers and drivers.

The online news provider said Indonesia was in the process of repatriating
thousands of its citizens from the Middle East, mostly domestic workers in Saudi
Arabia, Kuwait and Jordan, over claims of mistreatment.
