MDEC AND CISCO IN PACT FOR MALAYSIA AS REGIONAL TRAINING HUB

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 10 (Bernama) -- Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC)
and Cisco Systems have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish
Malaysia as a regional hub for training, certification and development of
networking technology operation skills.

This initiative is in line with the government's agenda to provide a strong
platform to create and build a highly skilled knowledge-based workforce, MDeC
said in a statement Tuesday.

"MDeC is very excited with this agreement as both the companies can work
together to maximise Malaysia's economic potential with the development of
training programmes for our local partners," said MDeC chief executive officer
Badlisham Ghazali.

He said the agreement would help to fulfil the existing job market demands
by providing the opportunity and environment to support the skill sets and
competencies in the industry.

As part of the collaboration, Cisco will provide training and development
for local partner companies to enable them to offer potentially the complete
range of Cisco training programmes and certifications to students throughout the
region.
