HONORARY STUDENT AMBASSADORS OF MALAYSIA
By P.Vijian
NEW DELHI, Nov 11 (Bernama)-- A group of young Indian students who visited
Malaysia could not resist the charm of the local culture and nature so they
captured them on video and promoted them among their friends at home.
For this, the seven students of the Ryan International School, who hail from
across India, were specially feted as "honorary student ambassadors of Malaysia"
in a special ceremony at the Malaysian High Commission in Delhi Tuesday.
"The Malaysia travel video produced by the students is a remarkable
initiative that serves as a compelling art form and a strong communication
medium.
"It brings forth Malaysia's myriad attractions, highlighting its
features as
an education tourism destination and the gamut of education and entertainment
options available to young travellers," said Malaysian High Commissioner to
India Tan Seng Sung.
At the ceremony, the first such event organised by the Malaysia Tourism
Promotion Board, the students were awarded certificates, jointly signed by
Tourism Minister Dr Ng Yen Yen and the high commissioner.
The students were on a familiarisation trip to Malaysia and at the end of
their vacation they produced a highly commendable quality mini documentary.
Their work showcased the diverse Malaysian culture, tourist destinations,
eco-tourism and the country's urban settings.
"It is truly Asia. Malaysia is rich in culture, the people were friendly and
the places we visited were wonderful. It is my second home now," said Arna v
Sharma,16, one of the students, who was also the video journalist.
Over 500,00 Indian visitors landed on Malaysian shores last year and spent a
whopping RM1.5 billion (US$442.8 million).
