4th session of Coordination council for cooperation with NGOs
Astana, November 12, 2009 (Khabar) - Representatives of ministries, the executive branch departments and NGOs have assembled at a regular session of the Coordination council for cooperation with non-governmental organizations in Astana. The participants discussed issues of improving the work of NGOs by the example of Pavlodar, Kyzylorda and South Kazakhstan regions. Enhancements to the effectiveness of cooperation between the “third sector” and state structures was given consideration as well.
Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed, minister for culture and information of Kazakhstan:
- I can state that the adoption of the law on state social order was a landmark event in cooperations with non-governmental organizations at a republican level. This law has secured the necessary judicial base which we work with today. However, time passes and new requirements are being introduced with account being taken of present-day realities.
A fair of social ideas where the non-governmental sector presented some 70 projects has taken place as part of the Coordination council as well. An independent commission selected the most relevant ones. They are directed towards work in the area of social security of the population and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, young people’s initiatives, the environment and energy efficiency.
