PUTRAJAYA, Nov 12 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and Indonesia have agreed that the
process of economic integration between both countries be further strenghtened,
not just in the area of two-way trade but also tourism, food security, energy,
the halal industry as well as finance and islamic banking.
"I also hope more Indonesian companies will invest in Malaysia so that
investments are seen as being a two-way traffic," he said at a joint media
conference here Thursday with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono,
who is
in the country on a two-day official visit.
Najib, who is also the Finance Minister, said the two-way trade relations
had been on the rise except for this year, due to the global economic crisis.
He said in his joint discussions with Susilo, he had agreed on Malaysia and
Indonesia investing in food security as the latter had a large land area and the
manpower.
"On the aspect of energy, Malaysia can channel it to Indonesia, especially
to interior areas, when have excess," he added.
Najib said Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta could also cooperate in efforts to
overcome the anti palm oil campaign by having a joint and coordinated action.
