First ethnographic village to be built in Ust-Kamenogorsk

Ust-Kamenogorsk, November 13, 2009 (Khabar) - The first ever ethnographic village occupying 30 hectares and housing 13 ethic and culture centres will be built in the east Kazakhstan city of Ust-Kamenogorsk. Ahead of its opening, each centre is preparing a surprise which is yet a secret. The chairman of the Slavic culture community, Alexander Yakovlev has already chosen his design of future facilities. All buildings will be wooden only as the Russian village will be made up of 15 different facilities. Ethic teacher training courses as well national trade classes and musical contests are expected to be conducted in the village. National cuisine will also have a special place there.

Alexander Yakovlev, chairman, regional Slavic culture community:
- We want to call the cafe the Russian pies. There is a great variety of them. We would like to present it in the Russian house interior. It can be taken out of the oven and cut into slices right in front of the guests.

Tusipkhan Tusipbekov, deputy secretariat head, East Kazakhstan regional assembly of people:
- In November we expect draft designs to be presented for us to know what is going to be built. I think these projects will be implemented in June next year to appear in the ecological park.

Folk craftswoman Gulnar Kozhamzharova is looking forward to the opening of the ethnic village. For over 20 years, she has been dealing in thick felt wares. Her models were awarded at different contests around the world.

Gulnar Kozhamzharova:
- I am happy that such a place will soon appear in Ust-Kamenogorsk. We can teach people national trade and share experience with our colleagues from other ethnic and culture centres.

Berdybek Saparbayev, East Kazakhstan regional governor:
- We will be in charge of building all engineering mains to be connected to the facilities and we will be paying public utilities expenses.

Once the village opens, the city residents and guests will have a chance of learning more about the rich legacy of the ethnic groups residing in the East Kazakhstan region.
