M'SIA SIGNS PROTOCOL TO AMEND DOUBLE TAXATION AGREEMENT WITH FRANCE

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 12 (Bernama) -- The protocol amending the agreement between
the Malaysian and French governments for the avoidance of double taxation and
prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income, was signed
Thursday.

The agreement was signed by Second Deputy Finance Minister Senator Dr Awang
Adek Hussin and the French Economy, Industry and Energy Use Minister,Christine
Lagarde.

It was witnessed by the Prime Minister Najib Razak, who is also the Finance
Minister, at his office at the Prime Minister's Department here.

The protocol is especially for including the article on the exchange of
information in line with the standards required at the international level.

The agreement which enables the exchange of information to be efectively
implemented also involves two other countries, the United Kingdom and Brunei
apart from Malaysia and France.
